There’s a cute little antique shop, located in an old Victorian house, where I frequently visit… mostly to look for jadite, but I still go there all the time just to look around. They have a nice little selection of feathers, and every time I go there I almost buy some. Usually I talk myself out of buying any, but yesterday I decided to get a pheasant feather and a pretty blue ostrich feather. This is because I had something in mind for them… feather pens!
Here are the materials I used:
-Feathers
-Lace, from my mom’s infinite stash.
-Brown floral tape. (I didn’t know they came in colors other than green!)
I suppose the rest is fairly self explanatory— Wrap the tape around the pen, tape the bottom of the feather to the pen, wrap lace around it all and glue down the ends (I used a fabric glue). Pretty easy.

I love ‘em! They’re so pretty and elegant. If I had a use for it, I would buy the rest of the blue feathers and make more identical pens.
How cute would it be to have a large plume of feather pens sticking out of a little glass!?

We do this with flowers and floral tape for the girls teachers each year. Naive “bouquet” of pens.

You know somewhere on the web (maybe you tube) there is instructions on how to make your own feather pen. They kind Jefferson used to make for himself. How to cut the end and cure it. Not sure where.
