Now that Christmas is over I can blog about the gift I made for my sister!
I’ve heard her say, on several occasions, how much she loves the children’s book “Love You Forever”. Since she never owned the book I decided to give a copy to her for Christmas and make this plaque, for her boys’ room, to go with it. The quote comes from the book, if you didn’t already figure that out.
I remember one day I got a little nervous, we were at The Festival of Trees and saw a tree that included this book. My sister of course gasped and said “I LOOOVE that book!” and in my head I was thinking “It’s in my room, pleeeeeease don’t remember how much you want it and go out and buy it!”. Luckily she didn’t.
To make it I painted a wooden plaque, found at Hobby Lobby, and stuck on vinyl lettering which I designed and cut using my Silhouette machine and software. It was my first time cutting out and transferring so many little vinyl pieces, and it was a PAIN. I don’t know if it was just my vinyl or my transfer paper or what, but it did NOT want to transfer to my transfer paper. It took forever. Once I finally finished that, I hot glued two soda pop tabs to the back and strung wire between them so it could be hung on a wall. Yes, that is a little ghetto… but who’s going to see it!? Nobody, it’ll be against the wall. I love finding ways to do things for free.
PS- I’m sorry I’ve failed to blog regularly. I recently started a new full time job and I’m just having a hard time finding the time or the energy to craft lately. But I’m still going to endeavor to craft! so stick around. I’m just not going to be one of those bloggers who posts every week day, at least not right now.

What a great idea! My sister in law is having a baby in the summer. I’ll have to do this for her. That book makes me cry every time…I can not get through it without being in tears.

Too cute! I have made some but I just use scrapbook paper instead of the vinyl. I thought the vinyl might be difficult to work with, so thanks for your post!
