Artificial Tree stand fix or improvement

I can’t take any credit for this idea, it’s all my mom’s doing. I wasn’t even living in the same state when she came up with this genius tree stand idea for an artificial tree.

For two or three years the stand for our tree was broken. And since my parents are so frugal, our Christmas tree leaned against the wall for at least a couple of Christmases. However, last year my mom came up with a genius plan!

This is a tree stand designed for a real tree.  At first my mom put the “tree trunk” directly into this contraption, but it made the tree too short. To fix this she inserted PVC pipe into the tree stand and then set the “tree trunk” into the PVC pipe. The little notches for the branches hits the PVC pipe and keep it from going any lower.    My mom’s favorite part about this is that it turns! She can just sit in her chair and twirl the tree while she’s putting it together.  She said that if she knew she could have done this before, she would have broken the artificial tree’s stand when she first bought it. She loves her sturdy, rotating, adjustable length(if she bought a different length PVC pipe) tree stand.  I think it’s pretty amazing myself.

Umm… Sorry there’s no pretty finished tree picture, I just didn’t take one and our decorations aren’t particularly amazing. Maybe you could close your eyes and imagine the prettiest tree you ever did see, and pretend that’s my tree. :)

How about you? Have you ever had a leaning Christmas tree?
