After moving back in with my parents I decided I wanted to update some things. Nothing too serious, just a little paint and some decorative items. The house was built in the mid ’80s and has it’s original cupboards and cabinets, I think even the paint in the bathroom was original. My parents gave me permission to paint the bathroom and the kitchen. I have not yet done the kitchen, but I have plans to paint the cupboards and the walls in there and maybe update the light fixture.
In the bathroom I painted the walls and striped the ceiling. Then I got a new rug and towel, made a $5 ruffle shower curtain (Click HERE for directions), got new shower curtain hooks, and switched out the light fixture with a nicer looking one from our unused basement bathroom. Here are the before and afters
Before (after some painter’s taping):

I’m madly in love with the stripes, they make the whole space awesome.
I also plan to paint the cabinets white, line the shelf under the mirror with something pretty, and make an earring holder. So stay tuned!

I do have a tutorial for the $5 curtain on my personal site, but I’m going to make a few improvements before I post it here. I WILL post it here though, so watch for it! It’s always nice to meet a fellow Alissa, who spells it right
